Freezing Hot Chocolate

It’s too hot to drink hot.

It’s not too hot to drink hot things made cold.

Therefore, we will make things that should be hot cold so we can drink cold things when it’s hot. Catch my drift?

Frozen Hot Chocolate

3oz good quality chocolate, chopped
2T hot chocolate mix
1 1/2T sugar
1 1/2C milk
3C ice*
whipped cream (optional garnish)
chocolate chips/shavings (optional garnish)

Melt chocolate in a double boiler over water, stirring occasionally. Add hot chocolate mix and sugar until blended.
Remove from heat. Slowly add 1/2C of milk while stirring. Cool to room temperature.
In a blender, add remaining 1C of milk, chocolate mix, and ice. Blend until incorporated.
Pour into glasses. Top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.

*Next time I make this, I plan to freeze milk into ice cubes. I will also cut back on the amount of milk added to 1C total. This will result in a richer tasting end result.
