Three Cheers for Tofu

If C is for Cookie, then T is definitely for Tofu. Well… its good enough for me.
Are you part of the Anti-Tofu Association of America (ATAA)? I too was also once under the impression that tofu could-not, would-not, should-not taste good. I’m a tofu convert in a big way now and I strongly believe that TOFU IS INCREDIBLE. This recipe is an excellent tofu recipe for people who are anti-tofu (and you know who you are). Try this. I dare you.

Tofu Dippers
1 15oz block extra-firm tofu, drained and pressed

1/2tsp garlic powder
1/2tsp onion powder
2T Worcestershire sauce
2T reduced sodium soy sauce
1T ketchup
1/2tsp dry mustard
1tsp lemon juice
1tsp liquid smoke
1T brown sugar

Take drained/pressed tofu and slice into 1/4inch thick slices. In a shallow dish, combine garlic powder, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, ketchup, dry mustard, lemon juice, liquid smoke, and brown sugar. Whisk to combine. Lay slices in marinade and allow tofu to marinate for 1-24hrs, turning occasionally.

Once you are happy with the marination (? if thats a word?), lay slices onto a baking sheet that has been sprayed lightly with no-stick spray. Place baking sheet under the broiler. Broil for about 6 minutes. Flip the tofu over and broil for an additional 6 minutes. All done!

What to dip with? ketchup, teriyaki/soy sauce, bbq sauce, etc.
Or just eat ’em plain.
