Strawberries in Balsamic Vinegar

I kicked off my shoes, changed into a not-so-attractive old t-shirt and short combo, and plopped on the couch with a bag of stale corn chip crumbs. Yes, sometimes this is my reality. Fatigue has been known to get the best of me.

Sometimes, I want to be a different girl though. The one that is cosmopolitan, chique, and classy. The one who always wears aprons when she cooks, always wears heels to the grocery store, and always wears workout clothes so coordinated that they appear to be designed for Hollywood A-listers. I can imagine being THAT girl. She hosts fancy dinner parties in her upscale downtown loft. She has coordinated dinnerware for every occasion and her tablescaping skills would leave Martha Stewart and Ina Garten drooling. After a delicious evening of mouthwatering, to-die-for dishes, she brings out the pie-ce-deresistance: strawberries in balsamic vinegar. Everyone is wowed by its understated perfection. She is THAT girl. THAT girl that knows that sometimes less is more. In case you (like me) have the occasional twinge to be THAT girl, here is the recipe:

Strawberries in Balsamic Vinegar

Source: adapted from All Recipes

1/2lb strawberries, cleaned and sliced into bite-sized pieces
1T sugar (granulated)
1T balsamic vinegar (use a good one if you can)

Toss strawberries, sugar, and balsamic vinegar in a bowl. Let the flavors merry in the fridge for about 1-2hours, stirring every 30minutes. Serve immediately. Garnish with a sprig of basil or mint if you desire. If you really and truly are THAT girl, you would probably serve it in a fancy martini or wine glass.
